This September I’m launching a series of 6 week beginner guitar courses in Norwich UK
I very much enjoy teaching students one to one but, while I was a workshop leader for Community Music East in Norwich I used to love running guitar sessions for larger groups. Funding was halted for these popular short courses some time ago, so I’ve decided to launch my own under my Songhacks brand to fill that gap.
No experience necessary; all ages, from 6 up catered for.
Learning guitar in a larger group is a lot of fun, the participants spur each other on, make novel suggestions for where to take the sessions and there’s a lot of mutual support. It’s really nice to combine learning a new skill with meeting other people with shared interests. I’m really looking forward to running the sessions.
I have hundreds of hours experience teaching guitar in a group setting and the tried and tested course material will give participants a firm foundation for years of enjoyment playing the guitar.
Taster sessions start on Monday 11th September
Before committing to the full 6 week course, you are welcome to come along to a taster session: 6 to 9 year olds can come along from 6pm to 7pm; 10 to 13 year olds 8pm to 9pm on Wednesday 13th September. The cost is £7.50 per child. If you are aged 14 and up, you can attend a taster on Monday 11th September from 7pm to 9pm, the cost is £10. The venue, Pilling Park Community Centre has plenty of parking and is not too far from the city centre.
The courses themselves will start the following week: 14+, Monday 18th September at 7pm; 6 to 9 year olds, Wednesday 20th September at 6pm and 10 to 13 year olds, Wednesday 20th September at 7pm.
